Applying for music copyright - Miss Georgiou

Copyright refers to the ownership of someones creation of work, this could be products or specific designs across their work. Copyright in the music industry is when an artist creates a piece of work which can be a music video or their song, and has it copyrighted so that people cannot copy their work or reproduce it so it sounds exactly the same. There are many examples of copyright issues in the music industry for example there was a problem with the song by Robin Thicke - blurred lines ft. T.I., Pharell with the song Got to give it up by Marvin Gave as they sounded very similar to each other.

Our group had to apply for the copyright of Jake Bugg's song "Two Fingers" to the record label mercury records, this was so that we could use the video as we are not claiming ownership of the song but rather the video that we make for educational purposes, if we didn't apply the video could be taken down by the record company as they wouldn't approve of the use of the song without any permission from them. Our group identified that the record label that held the rights to Jake Bugg's content was mercury records and so we went about finding their email. When we found their email we sent them this message:
